Charles Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker Bowles

The wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camilla Parker Bowles took place at Windsor Guildhall in April, 2005. Following the wedding, the wedding party moved to St. George’s Chapel for the service of blessing, performed by the Church of England. Their marriage brought back remembrances of the famous 1936 abdication of Edward VIII, newly famous because of the King’s Speech, a stunning film from early 2010 that focuses on “Bertie” (Colin Firth) who was next in line to be king but felt completely inadequate because of his debilitating stammer. Due to the Church of England’s policy against divorced persons remarrying while the ex-spouse was still alive, the ceremony of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camilla Parker Bowles was civil in nature, and even this was challenged as controverting the law on many accounts, though none of the challenges held up.
