We have an emotional solo piano rendition of the classic love song Unchained Melody, best known of course as one of Elvis’ greatest hits. I think this is great wedding prelude music! So many associate this song with memorable events in their lives; others just get that nostalgic thing going when they hear the first strains of this exquisitely simple love song.
Ever hear of the prison film “Unchained?” This song was the theme of that movie, made in 1955. Since then, it has been recorded hundreds of times. Many associate the song with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze and their steamy scene from the movie Ghost; others of us think of the Righteous Brothers recording.
Nominated for an Oscar for best song in 1955, it lost out to another classic but less memorable song, Love Is A Many Splendored Thing. Other artists that have recorded it include Ricky Nelson, Roy Orbison, Harry Belafonte, The Supremes, U2, Smashing Pumpkins, Barry Manilow, and Cyndi Lauper! Quite a diverse group that have paid homage to this great popular song.
