Check out our Wedding Classic Love Songs – we have an entire album of beautiful arrangements that are perfect for wedding preludes, postludes, or just easy listening. It’s been fun trying to decide which contemporary songs deserve to be on this album. I’m sure if we did took a poll of favorites that might be appropriate for a wedding, we would have a small area of general agreement, but beyond that, a whole lot of songs that 1 or 2 people would choose that are special to them but not the rest of you.
From This Moment seemed like an obvious choice, as did God Bless The Broken Road. Storybook Love, also known as the Theme From Princess Bride, was another sentimental favorite, and had to be on there. The other contemporary song on the album is You And Me by Lifehouse. Perhaps not quite as clear-cut of a choice as the others, it was however, an important song in Brian’s wedding (he’s one of the partners) – ‘nough said! The Prayer is included, but it defies categorization to some degree – it’s not a love song as such, but is contemporary, and there are very few contemporary songs not of the love type that are played at weddings. A couple newer songs: Iris Piano Solo (Goo Goo Dolls originally), Only Hope (first recorded by Switchfoot and later by Mandy Moore), and Happy Together – Turtles unforgettable classic love song from the 70′s.
The other songs currently included are
- Unchained Melody
- If (the old ‘Bread’ song)
- Bridge Over Troubled Waters
- I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You
- I Would Choose You
- In Your Arms Tonight
- Longer Than (Fogelberg)
This list will continue to grow, and hopefully we’ll hear from many of you telling us about songs you would like to see added to this album. It’s not like there’s a shortage of love songs out there…so throw some song titles at us!
Here is an interesting blog post about the lovely Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven; read a brief history of Unforgettable, another of our wedding piano pieces.
