Amy and Patrick Fata are good friends for whom I have produced three albums over the years. I won’t attempt to give you a complete bio, as it would be inadequate and incomplete – but I think I would like to have an artist section eventually to tell about artists like Amy and Patrick that I’ve worked with.
So here are a few facts about Amy and Patrick. Both graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis with music degrees – Patrick in classical piano, and Amy in vocal performance. Patrick currently teaches both privately and at Huntington University in Indiana. Amy formerly taught music and directed choirs at the high school level, and has been teaching voice lessons for as long as I have known her. For many years they have performed in concert, featuring much of the unique, original music they have composed.
Amy has performed vocal solos and Patrick has played piano at numerous weddings over the years; Patrick lent me some of his wedding sheet music as I was searching for some of the songs that we now offer on our website. He has literally given me the shirt off his back (as part of his tuxedo) when I have found it necessary to have some nicer photos taken or play at weddings where a tux was appropriate.
I recently produced a hymns album for them entitled “Wondrous Love – Hymns Of Our Faith.” This was by design a simple, organic record, utilizing only a few acoustic instruments and Amy’s voice. One of the selections included is “Savior Like A Shepherd Lead Us”, which has a very nice classical feel. Since that is one of the wedding hymns that I was producing for our website, I asked Patrick if I could borrow/steal his introduction and verse concept for my piano part; he grudgingly readily agreed! They had done a bit of a re-write to the chorus of the song for their project, and I decided to take the chorus more of the traditional direction, parting ways with their arrangement of the song at that point.
Thanks, Amy and Patrick for allowing me to use part of your creativeness for the song, and to our readers, if you would like to hear a beautiful, uncluttered and worshipful hymn album with our creative and collaborative arrangements, give them a visit at amyandpatrickfata.com.
