Yikes! If you’re coming to ZooWest to record, chances are you’ll be coming up U.S. 31 from Indianapolis, turning east on County Line Road at Lisa’s Pie Shop, where the marquis is almost shouting at you to pull into the corner parking lot and get that pie and ice cream you deserve. Sandy Williams, a good friend and incredible session player of all instruments guitar-like, loves their pies, and when I play sessions at Indy area studios he’s continually bemoaning the fact that I didn’t bring a pie for the session players. I’ll surprise him one of these days…
Sandy may have a solo album here at the Wedding Music Project one of these days. We’ve chatted about it, and when it comes to wedding guitar music, he could knock it out of the park.
I mean, I do deserve pie and ice cream. I work hard, at least sometimes, and I owe it to me to treat myself occasionally, especially when Mary is out of town and I’m fending for myself. If I can’t love ME, how can I love others, right?
Interestingly, that was the sermon topic at Trinity Church in Broad Ripple today, sort of. Except the poor confused preacher didn’t seem to get it. He had the hair-brained idea that we love ourselves too much, and aren’t always that concerned about the needs of others. How silly. I just have to figure out how to love myself more. Then I’ll be happy, and then I can love other people better …wait, what?
