I suppose the title of this article is open to interpretation. Although I can say with certainty that we carry a great variety of traditional music, including hymns that are excellent church wedding music choices, you may have a slightly differing view of what might be appropriate church wedding music.
A contemporary rock style or R & B love song that makes no mention of God in the lyrics might be excluded; others of us would say that popular songs from any era should not be music for a church wedding. Let me gently suggest that a good love song, if not church wedding music as some see it, is at least good and wholesome, if we subscribe to the idea that God came up with the idea of romantic love, which seems a logical assumption since he conceived of everything that exists! So even if it is deemed out of place in a particular setting, it is nonetheless addressing a very holy subject – the love relationship between two people – with all its richness and depth of meaning.
So if you’re looking for church wedding music - it doesn’t matter what you think the term means, we can help! We have some great choices for you to consider for preludes, processionals, the ceremony, and the postlude - exit music for the congregation after the bride and groom have “left the building.”
And may I confess I do favor the great hymns of the faith, as well as a great variety of classical wedding music, over many of the contemporary love songs that could be used at a wedding – but I do see love and a romantic relationship as holy and blessed by God.
