Musing today about famous weddings. We’ll take just a short break from helping you with your wedding music needs to review some famous weddings, most of them in 2010.
Dave Price Wedding: I don’t know what music they used, but “The Early Show” weatherman Dave Price was recently wed to Jacqueline Klinger at the couple’s home in Connecticut. The ironic thing about this is that I have a music engineer friend named David Price, and so we got a lot of hits at our wedding music website from people searching for Dave Price Wedding!
At Princess Diana and Charles’ wedding, Trumpet Voluntary (The Prince Of Denmark’s March) was the processional music. They also used Pomp and Circumstance by Elgar, an English composer, but I’m not sure where – probably it was the recessional. She walked into the cathedral to a Fanfare of some sort. Someone was asked what music was used at her funeral, and the reply was that it was quite likely the same as that used at her wedding. I think the implication was that Prince Charles was not a good catch…
At Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise’s wedding, Andre Bocelli serenaded the couple, and Tom, for some strange reason decided to sing “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’”, probably because it was featured in his blockbuster “Top Gun.” What were you thinking, Tom?
I read somewhere that their wedding music included Ave Maria – Katie was Catholic until shortly before the wedding, when she converted to Scientology, Tom’s ‘religion’ of choice.
Diana Krall and Elvis Costello, two well known singers, were married in relative obscurity – though there were 150 invited guests, the paparazzi were kept in the dark. Little can found about their music, but we do know that the Irish band “The Chieftains” performed, along with frontman Paddy Maloney.
Hilary Duff recently got hitched to Canadian hockey player Mike Comrie (mid August 2010) at the Mediterranean Villa La Quinta. They courted for 3 years before tying the knot, though I suspect the term “courted” is not used as it might have been 100 years ago…
Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinksy, her longtime beau, were united in marriage July 31st, 2010, as reported by the bride’s parents Bill and Hillary Clinton. Also in attendance were Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson. Theirs was an interfaith ceremony in Washington DC. Officiating were Rev. William Shillady and Rabbi James Ponet.
Orlando Bloom, our Lord of the Rings hero, recently was united in marriage to Miranda Kerr, a Victoria’s Secret model, barely a month after their engagement was made public. The couple had been hush-hush about their personal life, but had been dating for three years. Ms. Kerr opted to attend her honeymoon rather than a scheduled appearance in Australia, and inadvertently let it be known she was a married woman!
Rush Limbaugh exchanged vows with Kathryn Rogers recently, his fourth attempt at eternal wedded bliss.
The Dave Price Wedding is official! Congratulations David L. Price!
