How many of us knew a piece entitled Ubi Caritas before the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton? How many still don’t know anything about it?
“Wherever charity and love are to be found, God is there”
Born in 1975, Paul Mealor is not exactly a household name – but this Welsh composer is responsible for the song some say was the surprise hit – the emotional highlight – of the royal wedding. Clocking in at 4 minutes, this choral masterpiece was commissioned by Prince William for performance at the Westminster Abbey April 29th, 2011.
We don’t carry this piece, but you can hear it on the royal wedding recording available on iTunes. There are many of the other songs that we all heard in the royal wedding free of charge here: Kate & William – Royal Wedding Ceremony Music. And Kate’s bridal processional song, “I Was Glad When They Said Unto Me” is the final selection on our Wedding Processional Songs collection, which includes prelude, ceremony and recessional songs as well, and is our #1 selling album.
