As a professional pianist and music producer, I’ve been responsible for a lot of wedding music over the years! Some of the tricks and techniques I employ may or may not be in the musical vocabulary of other pianists and musicians whose music helps to make a wedding unique and meaningful.
For example, because I play both by ear and from the music, I can easily improvise on the spot to extend a song by 30 seconds, if for example, the processional needs to be longer because there was an unforeseen delay. Or, let’s say the bride and groom decided on “Pachelbel’s Canon in D”, or something more contemporary such as “You and Me” (pop song by Lifehouse) that she’ll walk down to. During the rehearsal we realize the sheet music lasts 3 minutes, but our processional needs to last only 50 seconds!
One small part of what we will offer here at the Wedding Music Project is the most loved processionals in various lengths – some less than a minute! – but that musically make sense, so if it’s “Pachelbel’s Canon in D” that you want for your processional, and you want it to last only 1 minute, you have a beautiful rendition here that you can download. (we plan to have sheet music as well so your musicians will have lots of options at their fingertips if you will be using live musicians during portions of your wedding).
That’s a bit of a rabbit trail – but it’s just one aspect of what we’re doing here that I think will prove very helpful to many of you planning for that special day. Please take the time to let us know what you think of our music, and how we can serve you better…
